And it doesn't help eliminate registering the product at Parallels, so there's not much win at the moment for the B&H tool. Hopefully it will improve over time. Still, that aside, hard to beat B&H for their overall great service, support, products, and pricing. Parallels 12 is a nice improvement of an already good product, no regrets on getting it. Smooth as glass For awhile, VMWare and Parallels took turns leapfrogging each other as the leader in their market, but now they are both very good and I like them both.

In fact, I use VMware on my MacBook Pro, and Parallels on my iMac. That said, one perk of going Parallels is you get their Parallels Toolbox for Mac for free - at least I did.

This is actually a noteworthy, as many of these utilities - like video file conversion, screen casting and capturing Vimeo and YouTube videos. I already have these utilities in other products, but if I didn't, I'd buy Parallels over VMware for these extras. One more thing: I got my Parallels through B&H when I bought my iMac. It was apparent while researching colleges that depending on your school or major you could have the need for both Mac and PC applications. This software makes it very easy to setup a virtual PC on your MacBook and this version has a lot of features to automatically manage the machine to run optimally. It was simple to install, walks you through everything step by step and helps you download, install, and license Windows 10.

Once you are up and running, the software does a nice job of bridging the two virtual machines so there is continuity in your files from one system to the next. Electronic download from B&H was a breeze and worked perfect. Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from Good buy for the price I have been using parallels since version 4, it has an annual upgrade cycle costing between $60 to $30 if you can find some deals.

As a product it's really good, very stable and maintains future parity with the other VM solutions. However the cost of upgrading is high, especially as each upgrade generally adds incremental value. B&H has an offer where you get this product 'free' with the laptop so it completes an essential purchase (for me - I run a lot of special programs (professional) and games across multiple VMs). However if you already have the previous versions, I would recommend skipping one version or even two if it doesn't have any really essential feature. I have occasionally been two versions behind and haven't encountered any issues.

After I figured out to get the activation key loading the software was pretty easy. Making a Windows XP virtual machine was also easy. From what I can see Parallels is pretty easy to use.it has a mostly intuitive interface. Starting and stopping windows within Parallels is straightforward.

The reason why I didn't give it a 5 is because its difficult to get technical support. I did have an issue and ultimately I resolved it myself. I actually complained via website and direct email: one of those venues told me he couldn't help me without an order number (I only ordered one product-a macbook pro with the parallels as a promised free included) but the other one got back to me with the promised download info within a day.
