Problems With Headphones Kraken 7.1 In Cs: Go : Steam For Mac

I just received my Kraken 7.1 chroma v2 a few hours ago and so far I'm loving them. But if I start a steam call with a friend and launch CS:GO (My test game for the surround sound) as soon as I launch the game the audio stops and the mic stops. Mce super-bludrive, blu-ray player and. I have to tab out.

Open the playback devices, disable and enable the headset, then go to the recording devices tab, disable and enable the mic, stop the call and call back and it's fine. I have no idea what the problem is but it's been consistent over 4 launches and a restart. Without the steam call it's fine. But, using my old Tiamats I never has this issue over the last 4+ years.

Agreed, they are nice and comfortable. I have had mine for ages. Managed to get it going in W10 with some (beta) drivers from Plantronics I found whilst trawling the net for a solution, as they didn't work at all when I first upgraded to w10.

The drivers sorted it absolutely fine. They are usb so don't use your onboard soundcard. For a change when I am not needing a mic, at the moment I am using my old Sennheiser202HD stereo headphones plugged into my GE62VR 7RF's mic jack, as I'd seen in a review somewhere that the On-board audio was fairly good through stock headphones. I am pretty happy with it. I don't have speakers at the moment - my long lasting and ever faithful (series I) Creative T40 2.0 speakers have the volume pot failure so I may see about getting that fixed. Other than that I thought they were pretty good and got hard use on PC and PS3. For consoles I use the Astro A50s (latest generation) and for PC I currently have the Razer Man'o War wired.

Both sound great, though I still think the sound on the 1st generation Astro A50s were better. The best sounding headset I ever had was the Turtle Beach Elite 800, however no boom mic created issues (people said I sounded like I was talking through a tin can). I would like to try the Steelseries Siberia 840s. A buddy of mine said those sound awesome. I do think wired sound better though, the Astro A40 would be a great way to go if you don't mind wired headsets. Further to my above post, I bought a pair of Asus ROG Orion PRO headphones.

They make use of the 3.5 MM jack although they come with the asus 'Spitfire' USB dongle which does all the fancy stuff. As it is I am using them with Virtual surround via nahimic, and they perform just fine. I wanted a pair I could plug in to the laptop to make use of the sound capabilities, rather than a USB dongle/sound card. Looks like my Plantronics GameCom 780's will be going on ebay. These Orions are a slightly tighter fit but I would say comfort is on a par with my GameCom 780's.

Well aggravatingly the right headphone died on the Orion Pro headphones last sunday, so back to Amazon they are going (after Christmas).

Pretty peeved as they only lasted just over 3 months which is a bit crap. To be fair to Amazon they refunded straight away and have given me until 18th January to return them. In their place I have ordered and received yesterday a set of Steelseries Arctis 5 headphones.

They are more comfortable than the Orion pros (if that were possible) Ironically I am using them via usb at the moment but have a 3.5 adapter in the box. Thus far (24 hours in) I must say they are leagues ahead of the Orion Pros. They were also cheaper. I nearly bought the 7 series but decided on the 5's after seeing reviews and I wanted to keep costs down.

I have decided to keep the Gamecom 780's as a backup pair:bonk. I have tried two different pairs of Logitech headsets, one wired, one wireless. They were overpriced, uncomfortable after an hour, and the wireless headset battery was useless. It worked for about six months, then started having problems charging and eventually died.

Looking at reviews for the various models, it is difficult to choose. Older headsets have more reviews and newer headsets haven't been used long enough to have many helpful reviews. I check various computer gaming suppliers for what they sell, how many have bought each model and what rating they give it, reading all of the reviews.

The competition is fierce and as new headsets are coming out all of the time, it isn't easier. Comparing the features can narrow down the range, but there is still way too many. I think that big price reductions are helpful, so I'd be tempted to get anything from a huge sale myself.
