Ess Maestro Pci Audio Drivers For Mac
Now here's my problem, it started out when my pc won't start up. It stops at the bootscreen while the bar is moving (xp loading sorta).
It stop right there and restarts and it just kept going on like that. I tried to boot on safe mode and it works. I disabled the restart on system failure or something like that and boot up.

And then i got the blue screen error. I restart the system again and i still get the same error. I decided to just format the pc and get a fresh installation of windows. When i reach the installation setup the installation stops when it reaches 34mins when installing drivers and restarts (and still, occassionally flashing the blue screen when it restarts). I googled for answers and i found out that it has something to do with a driver and windows refuses to install the driver that's why it won't continue.
Found out that i had to make windows skip this driver installation in order to finish installing windows. In order to make it skip that driver, i was told that i had to delete a file related to it.

Following the instructions i found, i had to delete a file called wdmaes2. Following the above, I successfully finished the windows installation and installed the drivers i need except for one. My sound card. The device is ESS Maestro-2 PCI Audiodrive.
Downloaded the driver from the net but i still can't install it. The installation stops when reaching the file essm2 and it says that the driver cannot be installed. Tried a lot of things and downloaded a few probable fixes already but none worked and it's giving me a headache! I even tried putting the wdmaes2 file back where i deleted it and manually copied the essm2 to the drivers folder on c: windows system32 folder. Pelase help!!! Aahh Sorry bhebhegirl, I didn't follow the link through - Having just now tried it, it seems to be another 'rip-off' site that wants you to pay I followed the link through to 'ESS' (sound-card manufacturer) and it appears they don't even support the card any more, I couldn't find any mention of it. The only other thing I can suggest, is to try installing the original driver off the CD that should have come with the card/PC.
If that's the one that isn't installing, then all I can suggest is to replace the card. 'Creative' produce an excellent range of cards to suit all budgets. (I can't post a link to them because my browser shows just the UK sites with UK prices ). I'll try to browse the cd that came with my pc. Hope I find the solution there but I doubt it.
Searching HP's website for the model/make of my pc, I found out that the sound card is Realtek (refer to my previous post for the model/make). But I opened my system to check whether I'm on the right track. The sound card installed is indeed the ESS one, not Realtek. I remember when my system had a problem before (can't remember what it is). My dad took it to get it fixed. I'm just not sure if he took it to a technician or asked one of his employees that's good in computers to fix it. If he took it to a technician, I'm thinking that it's possible that my device has been replaced.
This is really irritating me. Thank you for trying to help me solve this. I'll get back to you guys if the cd helped or not. The PC has the Realtek chipset. It may already be installed or is disabled.
Specs here: Based on your description: 'ESS Maestro-2 PCI Audiodrive', I'd suspect there is a PCI sound card installed. It's also ancient and I cannot find any working DL links for the drivers.
At least nothing free and from a known site. Check Device Manager / Sound, video and game controllers / and see if the Realtek chipset is listed. If so, you likely just need to move your speaker cable. You could also simply swap our the ESS card for a newer model. You can get a budget/cheap card (even an older Sound Blaster model) for $25 or less, shipped. I checked Device Manager and there's no Realtek device installed. According to HP's website, on the specs of my pc, 'Sound/Audio Integrated Realtek ALC888 Audio.
Integrated audio is not available if a sound card is installed. Audio CODEC: ALC888 6-channel high-definition audio' Does this mean I have to remove my sound card in order to take advantage of the built in realtek sound chipset? Also what are the 4 colored jacks located at the back? Pink (mic) green (line 1) orange (spk1) blue (spk2) what are spk and line 1? Glad you are all trying to help me solve my dilemma here. I did Dogg's suggestion and it showed me Parport and Serial in yellow exclamation mark.
I went to the driver's properties and clicked the Start button but it's not working. And then I tried changing the startup type to boot and then restarted my pc. I opened Device Manager again and showed hidden devices. Parport and Serial are not in yellow exclamation marks anymore but ParVdm now is.
What are these? They didn't change anything about my sounds problem.
